Pia Durisch

Born in Lugano in 1964, Pia Durisch studied architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich ETH, graduating in 1988 under Professor Flora Ruchat. In 1989 she won the Fritz Schumacher prize of the University of Hannover. From 1985 to 1986 she worked with Santiago Calatrava in Zurich before collaborating with Giancarlo Durisch in Riva San Vitale from 1989 to 1993. She was also assistant to professor Peter Zumthor at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio from 1996-1999. From 1998 to 2005 she was President of the Diocesan Commission of Sacred Art CDAS and has been a member of the Federation of Swiss Architects FAS since 2000. She became a member of the Federal Commission for Historic Monuments in 2008 and is also a member of the Commission for Competitions of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects SIA. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Verlags-AG | Espazium AG since 2014. She was a visiting professor at the IUAV University of Venice in 2006, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne EPFL from 2011 to 2013 and from 2014 to 2018 at the Academy of Architecture of Mendrisio AAM.
